A recent study shows that there are fewer women in STEM careers than men by a 3:2 ratio. This means the number of female engineers is simply not enough to make up for all the male ones, and has been made worse thanks to an infamous email thread between Google employees titled “The Hijab
Question.” The data was collected from over 675,000 U.S.-based respondents who were asked how they identify their gender on 100 different occupations. There’s still hope though- more research needs to be done so we can find out why this gap exists and if it could possibly improve with time and education efforts!
The “bill belichick sweatshirt cut off” is a meme that has been around for a while. It shows the New England Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick in his trademark hoodie, with his shirt cut off and a towel around his neck.
Bill Belichick, the head coach of the New England Patriots, turns 70 on Saturday, the age at which he previously assumed he’d retire from coaching.
“I don’t want to be like Marv Levy and coaching when I’m in my 70s,” Belichick famously stated in the NFL Films-produced “A Football Life” film more than a decade ago.
However, he has gradually softened his views since that time.
“Perhaps I didn’t know what 70 felt like when I said it,” Belichick said in a 2019 radio interview.
Now that he’s set to reach the magic number, Belichick makes no bones about it. He’s fully committed.
He rushed into several league meetings late last month during the NFL’s annual convention, and he was also observed walking barefoot down the beach as waves rolled in. He enjoys his life and is unwilling to give it up.
Belichick, clad in a bright button-down shirt, shorts, and sandals, remarked, “I like doing it.” “It’s a large-scale project. It’s a substantial amount. But it’s entertaining. It’s preferable than working.”
This will be Belichick’s 48th season as a head coach in the NFL, and his 23rd with the Patriots. His 47 years as an NFL coach are the longest in the league’s history, surpassing Dick LeBeau’s 45. Tom Moore is the only other NFL coach who has coached in the league for at least 40 years (41).
Belichick has a regular-season record of 254-99-0 and a playoff record of 30-12 since joining the Patriots in 2000. His 97-38 record (including playoffs) versus AFC East clubs demonstrates his divisional dominance for the most of his career.

He also holds the record for the longest tenured head coach with the same squad, by far. Next on the list is Mike Tomlin, who was hired by the Steelers of Pittsburgh seven years after Belichick arrived in New England.
In September, Belichick will join Romeo Crennel, George Halas, Levy, and Pete Carroll as the fifth NFL head coach to coach a game in his 70s. Consider that since he was hired in New England, the other 31 clubs have recruited 213 head coaches (including interim and ’22 hiring). During that time, 28 of those coaches have worked for AFC East opponents.
Belichick has said that his late father, Steve, used to declare that age is only a number when it came to coaching into his 70s.
321 is the number that matters the most to Belichick. That’s his overall win total (regular season and playoffs, including his tenure as Cleveland’s coach from 1991 to 1995), which puts him on the verge of passing Halas (324) for second place on the all-time coaches record.
When Belichick arrives, he’ll just be staring up at Don Shula (347).
Which teams have aided in Belichick’s ascension to such a high position? And which have been the most difficult for Belichick in the past?
Reporters from NFL Nation bring those stats to life.
Here’s how the other 31 teams have performed in general and against Belichick throughout his time in New England. Teams are listed from fewest to most head coaches throughout that time period. With an asterisk, interim coaches are identified.
Steelers of Pittsburgh
Bill Cowher (2000-06) and Mike Tomlin are the two head coaches (2007-present)
Regular-season record: 226-124-3, playoff record: 15-12
4-12 (including 0-3 in the playoffs) vs. Belichick: In his first game against the Steelers, Belichick led the Patriots to a 24-17 shock victory in the 2001 AFC championship game. After unseating the incumbent starting in the second game of the season, quarterback Drew Bledsoe came in late in the first half to replace an injured Tom Brady. Belichick has often stymied the Steelers on the biggest platforms since then. During the 2004 and 2016 seasons, he also led the Patriots to AFC Championship Game victories against the Steelers. Brooke Pryor is an actress who plays Brooke Pryor.
Ravens of Baltimore
Brian Billick (2000-07) and John Harbaugh are the two head coaches (2008-present)
Regular-season record: 209-144, playoff record: 16-11
4-9 (2-2) against. Belichick: In a 35-31 victory over the Ravens in the 2014 AFC playoffs, Belichick pulled a questionable replacement trick. To throw the Baltimore defense off, he set up just four offensive linemen and declared a usually eligible receiver ineligible. It was “obviously fraudulent,” according to Ravens coach John Harbaugh, and the NFL deemed it unlawful a few months later. Jamison Hensley (Jamison Hensley)
The Seattle Seahawks are a professional football team based in Seattle
Mike Holmgren (2000-08), Jim Mora Jr. (2009), and Pete Carroll are the three head coaches (2010-present)
Regular season record: 201-151-1, playoff record: 14-13
vs. Belichick, 3-3 (0-1): This includes New England’s Super Bowl XLIX victory against Seattle. The Seahawks have won the last two games (2016 and 2020) on goal-line stands, but no amount of regular-season success against the Patriots will erase the anguish of Malcolm Butler ripping the Lombardi Trophy from Seattle’s clutches with his 1-yard interception of Russell Wilson. Butler had been unable to stop a similar pick idea in practice leading up to the Super Bowl, but Belichick and his defensive staff had the undrafted rookie ready when Seattle used it with the game on the line. Brady Henderson’s quote
Packers of Green Bay
Mike Sherman (2000-05), Mike McCarthy (2006-18), Joe Philbin* (2018), and Matt LaFleur (2019) are the four head coaches (2019-present)
Regular season record: 223-128-2; playoff record: 14-15
2-3 vs. Belichick: The Packers are unlikely to regret any of their five encounters with Belichick. It’s the Super Bowl games that didn’t take place. When the Packers imploded in the NFC Championship Game defeat in Seattle at the conclusion of the 2014 season, they were seconds away from meeting the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX. Two of the Patriots’ Super Bowl defeats may be attributed in part to the Packers. The Giants knocked the Packers out of the playoffs in both the 2007 NFC championship game and the 2011 NFC divisional playoffs, hence the Packers lost both Super Bowls to them. Demovsky, Rob
Bengals of Cincinnati
Bruce Coslet (2000), Dick LeBeau* (2000-02), Marvin Lewis (2003-18), and Zac Taylor are the four head coaches (2019-present)
Regular season record: 159-190-4, playoff record: 3-8
2-8 vs. Belichick: The most memorable event occurred off the field, namely in the press box. A New England staffer illegally filmed the Bengals during a game against Cleveland before the Patriots played them in 2019. New England was fined $1.1 million and was forced to give up a draft selection in 2020. – Ben Little
The Indianapolis Colts are a professional football team based in Indianapolis
Jim Mora Sr. (2000-01), Tony Dungy (2002-08), Jim Caldwell (2009-11), Chuck Pagano (2012-17), and Frank Reich are the five head coaches (2018-present)
Regular-season record: 217-136, playoff record: 13-14
7-16 (1-4) against. Belichick: Peyton Manning and Bill Belichick’s defense were always a chess match. Manning and the Colts won their only postseason game against the Patriots in 2006, when Marlin Jackson’s interception of Tom Brady in the AFC Championship Game sent Indianapolis to the Super Bowl. You can’t forget about Deflategate, when the Indianapolis Colts, headed by former general manager Ryan Grigson, accused the Patriots of deflating game balls to benefit Brady during the 2014 season. Mike Wells’ remark
The New Orleans Saints are a professional football team based in New
Jim Haslett (2000-05), Sean Payton (2006-11; 2013-21), Joe Vitt* (2012), Aaron Kromer* (2012), and Dennis Allen are the five head coaches (2022)
Regular season record: 204-149, playoff record: 10-9
2-4 vs. Belichick: During the Saints’ 2009 Super Bowl season, Drew Brees threw for a perfect passer rating in one of the finest triumphs in club history against Belichick on Monday Night Football. Saints coach Sean Payton famously dressed up as Bill Belichick and mimicked his voice as a brilliant tactic to criticize and inspire his team during that week. Payton has long looked up to the Patriots as a blueprint for how to construct a squad, and the two have frequently practiced together. Triplett, Mike
Eagles of Philadelphia
Andy Reid (2000-12), Chip Kelly, and Andy Reid (2000-12) are the five head coaches (2013-15) Nick Sirianni* (2015), Pat Shurmur* (2015), Doug Pederson* (2016-2020) (2021-present)
Regular season record: 203-148-2, playoff record: 14-13
2-5 (1-1) vs. Belichick: The Eagles’ finest achievement in team history came at the cost of Belichick and Brady in Super Bowl LII, when they defeated the Patriots 41-33. In that game, the Patriots unexpectedly benched starting cornerback Malcolm Butler, and it cost them. However, Belichick has had some success against the Eagles. With a 24-21 victory against the Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX, he earned his third championship ring as head coach. Tim McManus, Ph.D.
Cowboys of Dallas
Dave Campo (2000-02), Bill Parcells (2003-06), Wade Phillips (2007-10), Jason Garrett* (2010-19), and Mike McCarthy are the five head coaches (2020-present)

Regular season record: 186-167, playoff record: 3-8
1-5 vs. Belichick: Prior to last year’s 33-27 overtime triumph over the Patriots, the Cowboys had only scored more than one touchdown in one of their previous five games with New England (2007). Of course, the victory was likely the season’s high point in 2021. On the game-winning touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott sustained a calf injury, and the offense never recovered the remainder of the season. Todd Archer is a writer.
Titans of Tennessee
Jeff Fisher (2000-10) was the head coach, followed by Mike Munchak (2011-13), Ken Whisenhunt (2014-15), Mike Mularkey* (2015-17), and Mike Vrabel (2018-present)
Regular season record: 183-170, playoff record: 5-9
3-8 (1-2) versus. Belichick: The Titans have struggled against Belichick in the past. At 2009, the worst game was a 59-0 thrashing in New England. The Titans, on the other hand, have gone 2-1 since Vrabel came over as coach in 2018. After the 2019 season, that includes a road victory against the Patriots in the playoffs. Brady’s last game as a Patriot was a defeat in that contest. When the Titans purposefully accepted a delay of game penalty and then a false start late in the fourth quarter to suck extra time off the clock, Vrabel employed a Belichick tactic against his old coach. Panthers of Carolina
George Seifert (2000-01), John Fox (2002-10), Ron Rivera (2011-19), Perry Fewell* (2019), and Matt Rhule are the five head coaches (2020-present)
Regular season record: 167-185-1, playoff record: 8-7
3-4 (0-1) vs. Belichick: The most egregious defeat came in the 2003 Super Bowl, when the Patriots were defeated 32-29. Following a tied score, Brady led New England to a last-second field goal after Carolina kicker John Kasay sent the kickoff out of bounds. With Cam Newton as quarterback, Carolina had a lot of success against Belichick. In 2013 and 2017, he went 2-0 with victories. David Newton is an author.
Chiefs of Kansas City
Gunther Cunningham (2000), Dick Vermeil (2001-05), Herm Edwards (2006-08), Todd Haley (2009-11), Romeo Crennel* (2011-12), and Andy Reid (2011-12) are the six head coaches (2013-present)
Regular-season record: 192-161, playoffs record: 9-10
5-8 (0-2) vs. Belichick: The Chiefs have won two straight games against Belichick and the Patriots, but the Patriots have won both postseason encounters. After a 37-31 overtime defeat to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game during the 2018 season, the Chiefs never had a chance with the ball in overtime. Adam Teicher’s remark
Vikings (Minnesota)
Dennis Green (2000-01), Mike Tice (2001-05), Brad Childress (2006-10), Leslie Frazier (2010-13), Mike Zimmer (2014-21), and Kevin O’Connell are the six head coaches (2022)
Regular season record: 180-171-2, playoff record: 5-8
1-5 vs. Belichick: Belichick’s single victory over the Vikings came in his third game with the club, during the Patriots’ 0-4 start to the 2000 season. The Vikings went on to lose their next five games against him, including a 2010 game at Gillette Stadium that so enraged receiver Randy Moss that he refused to return home with the team and was dismissed shortly after. Kevin Seifert (Kevin Seifert)
Chargers of Los Angeles
Mike Riley (2000-01), Marty Schottenheimer (2002-06), Norv Turner (2007-12), Mike McCoy (2013-16), Anthony Lynn (2017-20), and Brandon Staley (2017-20) are the six head coaches (2021-present)
Regular-season record: 178-175; playoffs record: 5-7
3-11 (0-3) vs Belichick: The Patriots have a seven-game winning run over the Chargers dating back to their time in San Diego, and Belichick has won all three postseason matchups. The Chargers haven’t defeated Belichick since 2008, and five of the last seven meetings have been decided by eight scores or more. Adam Teicher’s remark
Bears of Chicago
Dick Jauron (2000-03), Lovie Smith (2004-12), Marc Trestman (2013-14), John Fox (2015-17), Matt Nagy (2018-21), and Matt Eberflus (2018-21) are the six head coaches (2022)

Regular season record: 171-182, playoff record: 3-6
1-5 vs Belichick: The Bears haven’t played Belichick since 2018, and they’ve lost five consecutive to the Patriots going back to 2002. While Soldier Field was undergoing renovations, Chicago played the 2002 season at the University of Illinois, allowing one of the finest comebacks in the Belichick era during the Week 10 game. Brady and the Patriots outscored the Bears 27-30 in the second half to win the game, which came down to two reviewed plays and no remaining timeouts for the Bears on New England’s last drive. 168-185 in the regular season; 10-6 in the postseason
3-4 (2-0) versus. Belichick: The Giants may have a losing record against Belichick, but they do boast two of his most prestigious victories: Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. It’s probably best to ignore the rest. In the first season, Coughlin, Eli Manning, and company spoiled the Patriots’ unbeaten record. Brady is still bothered by it. Coughlin, on the other hand, is one of the few coaches with a 3-2 record versus Belichick. Jordan Raanan is a writer.
Cardinals of Arizona
Vince Tobin (2000), Dave McGinnis* (2000-03), Dennis Green (2004-06), Ken Whisenhunt (2007-12), Bruce Arians (2013-17), Steve Wilks (2018), and Kliff Kingsbury (2018) are the seven head coaches (2019-present)
Regular season record: 156-195-2, playoffs record: 5-5

• How did your team do against Bill Belichick? • The Saints are in a’sweet place’ for wide receivers. • Will the Giants be able to locate a suitable edge rusher? • Do Ryan and the Colts have what it takes to win? • Should Jerry Jones stick to his guns?
Regular season record: 154-199, playoff record: 6-6
vs. Belichick, 11-35 (1-1): The Jets’ history would be incomplete without a chapter on Belichick, who famously left the organization on the day he was due to replace Bill Parcells as “HC of the NYJ” in January 2000. He has tormented the Jets and their supporters ever since. In fact, they are now on a 12-game losing run, with a humiliating average loss margin of 20 points. The “Butt Fumble” game in 2012, which was also a laugher, preceded the current slump. A surprising upset by New York in the 2010 divisional playoffs was the highlight. Perhaps the Jets might find heart in the fact that they landed Belichick in hot water in 2007 when they exposed his illegal videotaping methods, commonly known as SpyGate. Cimini, Rich
Texans of Houston
Dom Capers (2002-05), Gary Kubiak (2006-13), Wade Phillips* (2013), Bill O’Brien (2014-20), Romeo Crennel* (2020), David Culley (2021), and Lovie Smith (2023) are the seven head coaches (2022)
Regular-season record: 139-182; playoffs record: 4-6
3-11 (0-2) against. Belichick: The Texans have lost every game they’ve played against the Patriots in their franchise history. During Bill O’Brien’s time with the Texans, five of the defeats occurred in a row. In 2019, his last full season in Houston, the former Patriots assistant finally defeated Belichick. Broncos, Denver
Mike Shanahan (2000-08), Josh McDaniels (2009-10), Eric Studesville* (2010), John Fox (2011-14), Gary Kubiak (2015-16), Vance Joseph (2017-18), Vic Fangio (2019-21), Nathan Hackett (2019-21) are the eight head coaches (2022)
Regular season record: 194-159, playoff record: 7-8
10-10 (3-1) vs Belichick: The Broncos have done better than most, particularly during Shanahan’s tenure (5-3 against Belichick), and their 3-1 playoff record against the Patriots includes two victories in AFC Championship Games. The last Brady-Peyton Manning duel in the AFC Championship Game to round off the 2015 season would be the highlight. The Broncos’ defense pounded Brady with four sacks and 20 quarterback hits on route to a 20-18 victory, which was only sealed when cornerback Bradley Roby intercepted Brady on a 2-point conversion try with 11 seconds remaining. Mike Martz (2000-05), Joe Vitt (2005-06), Scott Linehan (2006-08), Jim Haslett (2008-09), Steve Spagnuolo (2009-11), Jeff Fisher (2012-16), John Fassel (2016-17), Sean McVay (2017-18) are the eight head coaches (2017-present)
Regular season record: 166-186-1, playoff record: 10-7
vs. Belichick, 2-6 (0-2): Not every one of these six defeats is the same. Following the 2001 season, the Rams lost two Super Bowls against Belichick and the Patriots, including Belichick’s first Lombardi Trophy. That game was the most famous because it came down to a last-second field goal and marked the start of the Patriots dynasty. Nick Wagoner is a writer.
49ers of San Francisco
Steve Mariucci (2000-02), Dennis Erickson (2003-04), Mike Nolan (2005-08), Mike Singletary* (2008-10), Jim Tomsula* (2010; 2015), Jim Harbaugh (2011-14), Chip Kelly (2016), Kyle Shanahan (2017-18) are the eight head coaches (2017-present)
Regular season record: 164-188-1, playoffs record: 10-7
2-3 vs. Belichick: The 49ers haven’t seen much of Belichick during his time in New England due to NFL scheduling, but their encounter on Dec. 16, 2012 stands out as one of the more interesting games in recent Niners history. San Francisco surged out to a 31-3 lead before the Patriots rallied to tie the game at 31 in a wild 41-34 triumph. The 49ers took the lead for good on Colin Kaepernick’s 38-yard touchdown throw to Michael Crabtree, improving to 10-3-1 and lowering the Patriots to 10-4. Nick Wagoner is a writer.
Buccaneers of Tampa Bay
Tony Dungy (2000-01), Jon Gruden (2002-08), Raheem Morris (2009-11), Greg Schiano (2012-13), Lovie Smith (2014-15), Dirk Koetter (2016-18), Bruce Arians (2019-21), and Todd Bowles are the eight head coaches (2022)
Regular season record: 162-191, playoff record: 8-5
2-4 vs. Belichick: The Bucs’ first win over Belichick came in Week 1 of 2000, when the Bucs defeated the Patriots 21-16. It was Belichick’s first game as head coach of the Patriots. Warren Sapp, Marcus Jones, Shelton Quarles, and Steve White all had six sacks on Drew Bledsoe, which tied for third most in the Belichick era, while Mike Alstott ran for two touchdowns. The second victory occurred in 2021, when Brady returned to Foxborough, Massachusetts, and was sealed by a failed 56-yard field goal attempt by Patriots kicker Nick Folk. — Jenna Laine is a model and actress.

Regular season record: 175-177-1, playoff record: 6-8
0-7 (0-1) against Belichick: When Atlanta plays against Belichick, things typically don’t go well. While everyone remembers 28-3 and what happened afterwards in their lone postseason meeting in Super Bowl LI, four of the Falcons’ seven losses to Belichick in New England were by double digits. The Falcons should be grateful that Belichick is from the AFC, since things would be a lot worse if he was from the NFC. Michael Rothstein is a writer and producer.

Regular-season record: 131-222, playoff record: 3-3
1-9 (0-3) versus. Belichick: The Jaguars’ sole win over Belichick came in Week 2 of 2018, when they defeated him 31-20 at home. That was paltry retribution for an abysmal defeat in the AFC championship game eight months before. The Jaguars led by ten points in the fourth quarter, but Brady guided the Patriots to two touchdown drives finished by throws to Danny Amendola. That game will be known in Jacksonville as the “Myles Jack Wasn’t Down” game. Officials whistled the play dead after linebacker Jack stripped running back Dion Lewis and was on his way to a score. They incorrectly determined that Jack had recovered the fumble but was still down. The Jaguars would have had a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter and may have advanced to their first Super Bowl. vs. Belichick, 9-36 (1-0): Although things have shifted in the Bills’ favor, New England has dominated these encounters for practically the whole time Belichick has been in charge. Against that time, there have been a slew of notable games, including this year’s 14-10 triumph in a windy Orchard Park, New York, and the Bills’ first playoff victory over the Patriots since 1963. 1-4 against. Belichick: When was the last time a Washington coach beat Belichick? In a 20-17 victory against Brady in 2003, quarterback Patrick Ramsey outdueled Spurrier. That day, the Patriots’ quarterback threw three interceptions and two touchdown passes. Brady threw 11 touchdown passes and just three interceptions in the following four encounters, all of which New England won. In those games, Belichick faced four different Washington coaches and five different quarterbacks. ‘John Keim’
